Therapy intensives are the fast-pass to healing.
Whatever it is you have going on, healing is closer than you thought possible through the transformative power of EMDR therapy intensives. Skip the waitlists. Skip the weekly sessions. Get right to the heart of the matter.
You don’t have the time to devote to weekly therapy sessions
Life is short. And there’s so much to squeeze in. When you’ve reached your limit for tolerating the pain you’ve been carrying, you don’t want to wait any longer than absolutely necessary to find relief and healing.
Maybe you haven’t been able to commit to therapy in the past because your busy life got in the way of attending weekly sessions. Or maybe you felt you never really got to the bottom of things in past therapy experiences. You may have felt better, but still know that there’s more healing to do.
You’re seeking deeper, more concentrated healing
Maybe your pain is starting to interfere with life in ways you can no longer allow. It could be impacting your relationship with your kids or partner. It could be causing difficulty sleeping. It could be the shadow that dims all of life’s best experiences.
EMDR Intensives are a different approach to therapy to accelerate healing. Perfect for those who are ready to dive into the deeper work in a concentrated format.
You’re in the right place.
EMDR intensives can help you accomplish in one session what may take months in traditional therapy.
What is an intensive?
Maybe you’ve been through something really painful, and it’s still affecting you. Or you’ve got a big event on the horizon—a wedding, a new job, becoming a parent—and you want to be mentally and emotionally ready. Or maybe you’re already doing weekly therapy, but you feel stuck and ready to break through. If any of this sounds like you, a Therapy Intensive could be a perfect fit.
The intensity and focus of a this format means you can skip the usual “stop-and-start” of weekly sessions. Without the weeklong gaps in between, you’re able to go deeper and make faster progress. This time is all about you, so whether it’s a 3-hour block or 3 full days, you’re dedicating space to truly focus on yourself.
Each therapy intensive is unique and custom designed to help you feel better faster and make real, lasting changes. This isn’t just time-efficient—it’s deeply transformational The time you spend on this intensive can translate to real change in your everyday life, bringing you closer to the goals that matter most to you.
EMDR intensives are very similar to traditional EMDR sessions, but we meet for a significantly longer period of time each day. Each intensive day lasts for approximately 3.5 hours, with a short break in the middle of the day and can be completed in 1, 2, or 3 day formats.
This format allows you to sink deeply into the reprocessing work. Time is not lost repeatedly getting settled in and wrapping up. Instead, we have already completed all of the pre-work needed and can get right to work without distractions or feeling the time crunch of the traditional 45-minute session.
Once your body and nervous system realize that there is no urgency and no time pressure, you are able to more fully engage in the EMDR process for more effective treatment. By the end of each intensive day, you will have accomplished what could take months in the traditional therapeutic format. The experience is transformative.
1
Pre-Intensive Assessment
A 90-minute intake and assessment session to determine the goals of the EMDR Intensive and prepare for the experience. We will identify the painful memories, beliefs, emotions, or images from which you are seeking relief. This session takes place 1-2 weeks prior to the first day of your intensive.
2
Intensive
Session
On this day, we will meet for approximately 3.5 hours. The first 15 minutes are generally dedicated to settling in and reviewing any questions that you may have prior to beginning. We will then begin EMDR for about 90 minutes before taking a short break. After that we conclude with another 90 minutes of EMDR.
3
Post-Intensive Follow-Up
For 2 and 3 day intensives, we will meet for a 45 minute follow-up session. During this time we will debrief insights, answer questions, and explore potential next steps. This session usually takes place two to three weeks after the conclusion of your intensive experience.

Therapy Intensives are perfect for people that are ready for relief now. If you’re ready to see things change in your life and your relationships but you don’t want to wait for that to happen next year - a Therapy Intensive may be right for you. If you have a specific topic, trauma, or stressor that you want support with - this can be the focus of your Therapy Intensive. The dedicated time will be customized specifically to you and your goals.
-
Therapy Intensives are more effective and efficient than normal 45-minute therapy sessions. Typically in a 45-minute session, there are at least 5-10 minutes of “check-in” at the start of the session and usually, 5-10 minutes spent on “closing up” or “checking out” at the end of a session - Leaving only 25-30 minutes for deep therapeutic work. Therapy Intensives are different. A 3-hour Therapy Intensive allows for 2.5 hours of depth work. That’s the equivalent of five 45-minute sessions or more than a month of therapy - in a single day.

Great question! This depends on your goals for the EMDR Intensive. Some goals can be reached in a 1 Day Intensive (3 hours), but other goals are more complex and may require a 3 Day Intensive. During our free initial consultation, I can help you determine the number of days that would work best for your therapy goals.

Absolutely! Therapy Intensives work very well as an adjunct therapy. I would ask that you sign a Release of Information so that your current therapist and I can collaborate/coordinate to best serve you.

ntensive application of trauma-focused therapy seems to be well tolerated in patients with PTSD, enabling faster symptom reduction with similar, or even better, results, while reducing the risk that patients drop out prematurely. It is also a safe and effective treatment for complex PTSD stemming from childhood abuse, neglect, or emotionally immature parenting.
Compared to other trauma therapy, the intensive format may decrease treatment time, because of time not spent on a) checking in at the beginning of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after trauma healing, or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session.

This is a super important question! While EMDR Intensives are great, they are not safe for everyone. Examples of situations where an intensive may not the right fit include: current or recent suicidality, active substance misuse, or recent psychiatric hospitalization. This is not an exhaustive list, and there are definitely exceptions, so I’d love to discuss further during a consultation.

EMDR Intensives are not covered by insurance, and I am not an in-network provider for any insurance plans. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse a small portion of the EMDR Intensive. It’s best to call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to learn the details about your specific plan. Make sure to ask questions like: Do I have a deductible for out-of-network services? Have I met my deductible? What CPT billing codes do you reimburse (i.e. 90837 or two 90843 in one day)? What is the rate of reimbursement for each billing code? What is the allowable amount for reimbursement?
