Therapy for moms from a mom who gets it.

I have first hand knowledge of the struggles that can come with motherhood. From infertility and IVF, to postpartum anxiety and rage, to navigating complex family dynamics, I’ve had my share of challenges when it comes to mothering. As your therapist, I want to help you overcome these challenges in a space where you feel seen and supported.

I understand how vulnerable you feel when you first meet with a stranger to talk about things you’ve never spoken out loud. And I also know the feeling of relief and the thrill of hope when you make the right connection and feel the power to make meaningful changes in your life. I want to offer that same hope and power to you.

Therapy that’s warm, straightforward, and collaborative

We’re in this together. My job is to support you, give you a nudge in the right direction when I see you veering off course or spinning your wheels, and provide you with the honest, informed, and compassionate feedback that you may not be getting from others in your life.

I help my clients find balance, self-trust, and joy by equipping them with the tools to understand why the transition to motherhood is so hard, to forgive themselves for what they see as failings or shortcomings (hint: they aren’t actually those things!), and to find a sense of self and purpose in mothering.

Much of the advice moms hear about coping with things such as postpartum depression and anxiety is simply not helpful. Sometimes, it’s actually harmful. Well meaning loved ones, and even therapists who are not specifically trained in maternal and reproductive mental health, view these struggles as just another form of “regular” anxiety or depression. But the truth is that it’s something VERY different, and those strategies or techniques simply aren’t going to work. This can often lead moms to feeling broken and like there is no hope for feeling better. This is why it is so important to work with someone with expertise in this area.

How does therapy work?

First, we get a sense of the things causing you the most distress in your daily life. Then we identify concrete, easy to implement strategies to help manage those issues and get some relief. These are things you will be able to use immediately following our first session. As you start to feel more stable, we will begin exploring past experiences, messages and expectations about mothering, and current relationships to understand how these complex dynamics are contributing to what you’re feeling. Through our work together, you will see how you got to the point of reaching out for help, how to let go of things that are keeping you stuck in suffering, and what to do to move forward stronger, healthier, and ready to tackle whatever comes your way.

Training + Experience

I am a native Chicagoan, currently living with my husband, three young children, and two dogs in small-town Wisconsin.

In 2019, I became one of the first clinicians in the country to become certified as a perinatal mental health specialist. This certification required extensive coursework, several years of work with this incredible population, and passing a rigorous exam. It reflects my dedication to serving mothers from preconception to empty-nesting. I received training from Postpartum Support International, as well as an intensive course of study with leading expert Karen Kleiman at the Postpartum Stress Center, and training on fertility from the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.
